# Update Twitter banner using HTTP request
### 1. Workflow Overview
This workflow automates updating a Twitter profile banner by fetching an image from an external source and uploading it to Twitter using the Twitter API. It demonstrates how to handle multipart/form-data uploads with binary files within n8n, specifically showing the use of the HTTP Request node to retrieve an image and then upload it to Twitter with OAuth 1.0 authentication.
The workflow is logically divided into two main blocks:
- **1.1 Input Trigger:** Manual start of the workflow to initiate the update process.
- **1.2 Image Fetch and Upload:**
- Fetch an image from Unsplash (or any other image source).
- Upload the fetched image as the Twitter profile banner using a POST request with OAuth 1.0 authentication.
---
### 2. Block-by-Block Analysis
#### 1.1 Input Trigger
- **Overview:**
This block provides a manual trigger that initiates the workflow execution.
- **Nodes Involved:**
- On clicking 'execute' (Manual Trigger)
- Start (Start node)
- **Node Details:**
1. **On clicking 'execute'**
- **Type and Role:** Manual Trigger node; starts the workflow manually when clicked.
- **Configuration:** No parameters are set; defaults are used.
- **Expressions/Variables:** None.
- **Input/Output:** No input; outputs trigger to "HTTP Request" node.
- **Edge Cases:** None typical; requires user interaction to start.
- **Sub-workflow:** None.
2. **Start**
- **Type and Role:** Start node; automatically triggers workflow runs if used.
- **Configuration:** Default; no parameters.
- **Expressions/Variables:** None.
- **Input/Output:** No input; output connections not used in this workflow (positioned but not connected).
- **Edge Cases:** Not connected; has no effect here.
- **Sub-workflow:** None.
#### 1.2 Image Fetch and Upload
- **Overview:**
This block handles the core logic: fetching an image from Unsplash and uploading it as the Twitter profile banner via the Twitter API with OAuth 1.0 authentication.
- **Nodes Involved:**
- HTTP Request (fetch image)
- HTTP Request1 (upload banner)
- **Node Details:**
1. **HTTP Request**
- **Type and Role:** HTTP Request node; downloads an image file from a specified URL.
- **Configuration:**
- URL: `"https://unsplash.com/photos/lUDMZUWFUXE/download?ixid=MnwxMjA3fDB8MXxhbGx8Mnx8fHx8fDJ8fDE2MzczMjY4Mjc&force=true"` (direct download link).
- Response Format: Set to "File" to retrieve binary data.
- Headers: None specified.
- Options: Default.
- **Expressions/Variables:** None; URL is static.
- **Input/Output Connections:**
- Input: Receives trigger from "On clicking 'execute'".
- Output: Passes binary file data to "HTTP Request1".
- **Version Requirements:** Compatible with n8n v0.100+.
- **Edge Cases:**
- Network errors or HTTP errors (404, 500).
- Timeout when fetching large files.
- URL may change or expire.
- Response may not be a valid image file.
- **Sub-workflow:** None.
2. **HTTP Request1**
- **Type and Role:** HTTP Request node; uploads the image binary as Twitter profile banner via Twitter API.
- **Configuration:**
- URL: `"https://api.twitter.com/1.1/account/update_profile_banner.json"`
- HTTP Method: POST
- Authentication: OAuth 1.0 (configured with Twitter credentials).
- JSON Parameters: Enabled (true).
- Send Binary Data: Enabled (true).
- Binary Property Name: `"banner:data"` (this is the binary file from previous node).
- **Expressions/Variables:** None dynamic; binary property name set explicitly.
- **Input/Output Connections:**
- Input: Receives binary data from "HTTP Request".
- Output: Not connected further.
- **Version Requirements:** OAuth 1.0 support required (n8n v0.70+).
- **Edge Cases:**
- OAuth authentication failures (invalid/expired tokens).
- Twitter API rate limits or errors (429, 401).
- Binary data malformed or missing.
- API endpoint changes or deprecation.
- **Sub-workflow:** None.
---
### 3. Summary Table
| Node Name | Node Type | Functional Role | Input Node(s) | Output Node(s) | Sticky Note |
|---------------------|--------------------|------------------------------------|---------------------|-------------------|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

2. **(Optional) Add Start node**
- Type: Start

- JSON Parameters: Enabled (true)
- Send Binary Data: Enabled (true)
- Binary Property Name: `banner:data` (expects binary data named "data" inside a binary property called "banner")
